NEC Corp. has signed a global framework contract with Telenor, Norway’s leading fixed and mobile telecommunications operator, for the supply of its compact iPASOLINK microwave communications system, including the ‘5000ips’ long-haul, large capacity microwave system and related services such as installation and commissioning.
The global framework contract awarded to NEC is one of those covering the Telenor group’s 11 affiliates, which includes operators such as Pannon GSM Telecommunications Ltd. of Hungary and GrameenPhone Ltd. of Bangladesh. This contract strengthens NEC’s position as the primary microwave communication system supplier for the Telenor Group.
“We are proud that since 2006, NEC is the only supplier that has continuously maintained a framework contract with Telenor for the supply of microwave systems,” said Takayuki Morita, senior vice president, NEC. “This new agreement reaffirms our close relationship and NEC’s full support for the continued evolution of Telenor’s network.”
