AWT Global has launched a new line of portable passive intermodulation (PIM) testers with an extended carrier power range: the PIM+ series. These systems are equally suited for testing macro cells as well as outdoor and in-building DAS installations. While 2 x 20 W (2 x 43 dBm) carrier power is the reference for standard for PIM test systems, the new PIM+ offers an extended adjustable power range of +15 dBm to +44 dBm for each carrier. This low power capability is required for testing components that are designed for use in low power in-building DAS applications.
Additionally, the new PIM+ can utilize only a single amplifier as a signal generator for insertion loss testing, when needed. Important measurement options like return loss (VSWR), Distance to Fault (DTF) and Distance to PIM (DTP) are fully integrated into the tester, making it very convenient for field work.
“Our customers appreciate a true single box PIM test solution that can conduct multiple tests at lower and higher power levels, and that allows the user to switch between PIM, RSSI, VSWR, DTF, DTP and analyzer mode measurements, just by the touch of a button”, said Thomas Lee, Director of Sales for AWT Global.
AWT Global’s Portable PIM+ Test Systems are designed to withstand harsh environmental conditions and are delivered with Solid State Drives (SSD) to ensure flawless functionality. PIM+ testers are powerful yet compact and very easy to operate, which makes them ideal for testing and analyzing telecommunications network infrastructures. PIM+ portable testers are available for 700, 850, 900, 1800, 1900, 2100 and 2600 MHz mobile communications bands.
