In recently published research studying the competitive dynamics of the in-building wireless DAS (distributed antenna system) market, ABI Research has identified a select group of DAS vendors that have been recognized for the innovative product and market offerings. As part of the Competitive Assessment process, innovation was scored according to various criteria including LTE and MIMO support, scalability, ease of install, capacity enhancements, cost, multi-technology and operator support, and small cell support. While Corning MobileAccess, TE Connectivity, and Andrew Commscope dominate the market place with their footprint and market share, ABI Research has identified that vendors like Axell Wireless, SOLiD Technologies, Optiway, Alvarion, Zinwave, and Powerwave are the foundation of the next phase of market development.

Amongst these vendors, Axell Wireless is possibly the furthest along collectively in terms of operator acceptance and product innovation. Their new broadband DAS solution combined with their considerable presence in public safety gives them an edge over their competition and is closing in on the top 3. SOLiD Technologies is the one vendor to watch out for as they continue to gain market share in North America. Incumbent vendor Powerwave is fighting back, keeping abreast with the latest developments and launching an LTE picocell and new lower power DAS products. Zinwave, although a relatively small vendor, ranks high for its wideband, multiservice DAS approach. New kids on the block Optiway and Alvarion are also going after the multiservice wideband DAS market.
