Narda, an L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) company has introduced the 4436 family of RF power dividers that operate from 500 MHz to 8 GHz and are available in two-way, three-way, four-way, and eight-way versions. The power dividers are a cost-effective solution for commercial and defense applications and combine low insertion loss, high isolation, and peak RF power handling of 1.5 kW.
The insertion loss of the 4436-2 (two-way division) is less than 1.5 dB, less than 3 dB in the 4436-3 three-way version, less than 4.5 dB in the 4436-4 four-way version, and less than 8 dB in the 4436-8 eight-way version. Isolation ranges from 12 to 20 dB depending on the model, and phase balance of all versions ranges from 6 to 15 deg.
The power dividers accept a CW RF input power of 500 mW (1.5 kW peak) and operate over a temperature range of 0 to +70 C with humidity up to 95% (non-condensing). They are housed in rugged aluminum enclosures, weigh between 110 and 650 g, and employ SMA female connectors.
