Rohde & Schwarz ES-SCAN software simplifies EMI precompliance measurements during product development
Columbia, MD January 17, 2008 — Rohde & Schwarz today introduced R&S ES-SCAN Windows software, which when used with the company’s R&S ESPI3 or R&S ESPI7 test receivers enables electromagnetic interference (EMI) tests to be made at the earliest stages of product development, reducing the likelihood of costly redesigns later on. R&S ES-SCAN software is extremely easy to use and performs EMI measurements in accordance with commercial EMC standards. With a single mouse click, preconfigured test setups are invoked, setting all parameters required for measurements in accordance with the EMC standard selected by the user. These setups include transducer factors for antennas and for other test equipment. The user can also generate and store custom configurations. EMI peak values are determined automatically with user-defined thresholds, and all results are presented in graphical form on the instrument display. Frequency lists created by the user allow measurements to be performed at detected (or suspected) interference frequencies, reducing measurement time. The software provides wide flexibility, including a variety of marker functions, automatic peak search, various choices for report generation, and automatic data reduction. The user can choose either fully automatic mode in which the peak list is processed with automatic level measurement at all user-defined frequencies, or semi-automatic mode that allows “fine-tuning” to isolate maximum values. A continuously-available help system provides information on each operating step, and online help explains all software functions. R&S ES-SCAN software runs under Windows XP, provides hard lock copy protection via USB, and remote control via Ethernet or an IEEE-488 bus card and National Instruments’ VISA software. The R&S ES-SCAN EMI precompliance software is available now from Rohde & Schwarz.
