D2 Technologies announced that it has opened a design center in Hsinchu City, Taiwan. The center will be responsible for a variety of R&D projects aimed at advancing the state of the art of VoIP technology. The design center will be headed by Michael Deng, who reports to Matt Randmaa, vice president of engineering. D2 is best known for its vPort software, which is deployed in residential end-point products, and is designed for CPE products such as wired/wireless voice-enabled terminal adapters, routers and gateways, as well VoIP phones and handsets.
Michael Deng comes to D2 from Inventec Appliance Corp., where he was a director. Prior to that, Deng was a project manager at ITRI, Taiwan's leading government lab. Earlier, he spent 10 years at Bell Laboratories and Lucent. He holds an MS degree in telecommunications from the University of Pittsburgh.
"We will be staffing the Taiwan design center with a combination of software and test engineers whose goal will be to advance our softDSP VoIP technology," said David Wong, president of D2. "Our Taiwan design center will work closely with our R&D staff in Santa Barbara, CA, which is known worldwide for its VoIP advances."
