MADRID, SPAIN, TETRA World Congress (Stand C1), June 12, 2007 - Tyco Electronics announced today that its M/A-COM business, a worldwide leader of critical radio communications systems, joined the TETRA (Terrestrial Trunked Radio) MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) Association. Tyco Electronics' M/A-COM business joins companies that supply equipment meeting the TETRA standard as defined by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute. As a member of the TETRA MoU Association, Tyco Electronics' M/A-COM business supplies and supports various technologies and initiatives with open multi-vendor objectives to complement TETRA, maintaining the requirements of Private Mobile Radio users. "We are honored to welcome Tyco Electronics' M/A-COM business, a major player in the land mobile radio communications business, to the TETRA MoU Association," said Phil Godfrey, chairman, TETRA Association. "The association has worked hard to build a membership of dedicated and highly-regarded companies, like Tyco Electronics' M/A-COM business, that we can work together with to continue to deliver effective interoperable technology standards and solutions for the mobile radio communications industry." The Tyco Electronics M/A-COM TETRA offering will be exhibited and demonstrated at TETRA World Congress 2007 in Madrid, June 12-14, at Stand C1. Based on the M/A-COM VIDA (Voice Interoperability Data Access) network, the M/A-COM TETRA solution enables the operation of multiple digital radio protocols on a common universal networking platform, including the TETRA protocol. Because of this architecture, the M/A-COM TETRA solution creates the optimal path for interoperability with legacy systems and delivers the foundation for migration to tomorrow's communications solutions. M/A-COM VIDA networks are deployed globally, and support such diverse radio protocols as conventional analog, EDACS, P25, and OpenSky, as well as supporting legacy system interoperability and serving as management and configuration networks for M/A-COM's WiMAX solution. "The TETRA MoU Association is an important influence in support of the TETRA standard and in fostering the development of advanced solutions compatible with this evolving standard," said Dr. John Vaughan, senior vice president and wireless chief technology officer, Tyco Electronics. "We expect our membership to benefit us and more importantly, our customers." Tyco Electronics' M/A-COM business is a leading supplier of critical communications systems and equipment for public safety, utility, federal and select commercial markets. M/A-COM products range from some of the most advanced IP-based voice and data networks, to traditional wireless systems that offer customers the highest levels of reliability, interoperability, scalability and security. Tyco Electronics is also a recognized leader in the design and manufacture of M/A-COM radio frequency (RF), microwave and millimeter wave solutions for the commercial wireless telecommunications, aerospace and defense industries.
