Option Adds 75 to 110 GHz Measurement Range to Rohde & Schwarz ZVA Series Vector Network Analyzers
Honolulu, HI IMS 2007 June 7, 2007 — Rohde & Schwarz today introduced the R&S ZVA-Z110 option for its R&S ZVA24 (24 GHz) and R&S ZVA40 (40 GHz) four-port vector network analyzers that allows them to make measurements between 75 and 10 GHz (W band). The option is a cost-effective solution for evaluating the performance of millimeter-wave components designed for applications such as collision-avoidance automotive radar, developmental wireless systems, and defense systems. The R&S ZVA-Z110 option employs the two internal signal generators within the vector network analyzers to simultaneously provide both the source and local oscillator (LO). The frequency extension option consists of a directional coupler, frequency multiplier for upconversion, two harmonic mixers for downconversion, and a variable attenuator that allows output power to be varied by more than 25 dB. Maximum output power over the frequency range is +1 dBm. Trace stability is typically 0.2 dB, and dynamic range is greater than 80 dB. With system error correction, source match and directivity are greater than 35 dB. The test port of the unit uses a WR10 waveguide flange, the source input employs a 3.5 mm connector, and the measurement and reference outputs use SMA connectors. The bench-mount unit is extremely compact, measuring 13.5 x 4.3 x 4.5 in. and weighs only 2 lbs. The R&S ZVA-Z110 W-band frequency extender is available now from Rohde & Schwarz.
