R&S FSH18: Successful R&S FSH family of handheld spectrum analyzers expanded
Munich, 03 April 2007 — With the R&S FSH18, Rohde & Schwarz presents the world's lightest handheld spectrum analyzer up to 18 GHz. The new member of the established R&S FSH family can thus be used in the field for a variety of applications in the microwave range. The R&S FSH18 has the same compact dimensions as the 3 GHz and 6 GHz models, plus it features excellent RF characteristics as well as extensive measurement functions. The R&S FSH18 can characterize signals of weather radar stations, air traffic control systems, satellite systems, and microwave links – and simultaneously detect interfering signals. With its long battery operating time of up to three hours and robust design, it is especially valuable for outdoor use. Since it only weighs 2.5 kg, it can be easily carried over longer distances and also on difficult terrain. The R&S FSH18 can also be used in the lab for general measurement tasks up to 18 GHz. Moreover, the R&S FSH models are the only handheld spectrum analyzers worldwide that are able to perform high-precision terminating power measurements as well as directional power measurements by means of external power sensors, thus eliminating the need for an additional power meter during field applications. Like the R&S FSH3 and R&S FSH6 models, the R&S FSH18 excels with high measurement accuracy of up to 1.5 dB. In addition to a resolution bandwidth of 100 Hz to 1 MHz, the R&S FSH18 features an inherent noise of typically –148 dBm at a bandwidth of 1 Hz in the range between 3 GHz and 6 GHz. Its simple menu-based operation and predefined measurement functions such as for channel power, electric field strength, and carrier/noise ratio (C/N) make it easy to use. The R&S FSH-K3 option turns the R&S FSH18 into a receiver for monitoring purposes and for precompliance EMC applications. In addition, the option includes the CISPR bandwidths 200 Hz, 9 kHz, 120 kHz, and 1 MHz for EMI emission measurements. When equipped with the R&S TS-EMF isotropic antenna, instruments of the R&S FSH family can determine the direction-independent resultant field strength. The new R&S FSH18 handheld spectrum analyzer is available from Rohde & Schwarz starting at 15 078 euros.
