e2v has been awarded a £2.5 M contract to supply traveling wave tube (TWT) driver modules into tranche 2 of the Eurofighter Typhoon Captor Radar program. This is just the latest in a long line of successful contract wins which began when the company started supplying products for the first tranche of the Eurofighter Typhoon in 2000.
This was followed by two major contracts for tranche 2. The first was won in July 2005 and was a £4.5 M order to supply TWTs for the Eurofighter Typhoon Defensive Aids Sub System (DASS). DASS is designed to enhance aircraft survivability with an advanced suite of self-defense sensors and countermeasures and TWTs are an important component. In December 2005, e2v won a £1.5 M contract to supply sensors for the second tranche of the Eurofighter Typhoon Missile Approach Warning System.
This third and latest contract for tranche 2 confirms the company's position as a key supplier to the Eurofighter Typhoon program and is a major achievement for the company. "We are very proud to be part of such an important European defense program," said e2v's chief executive, Keith Attwood. "These contract wins demonstrate our close working relationship with the project and position e2v well for future contracts involving the Eurofighter Typhoon, as well as other electronic countermeasure programs throughout the world."
