ORBIT Communication Systems Ltd. has appointed new Regional Sales Directors in Europe and Latin America for its Satellite Communications (SatCom) Business Unit. Michel Rieken has joined ORBIT Communication Systems Europe as director of sales and business development, while Silene Alcoba was named Director of Sales and Business Development for Latin America and will be based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Having worked for over 20 years in the telecommunications industry, including 12 years in satellite communications, Rieken brings intimate knowledge of the European maritime market including end-users, system integrators and satellite service providers. Prior to joining ORBIT, he held key sales positions at Stratos Global and CapRock Communications and was instrumental in leading both of these companies to revenue growth and expanded market share in the maritime communications market.

Alcoba’s rich sales and business development experience includes management positions with leading telecom companies such as Global One, Equant (Orange) and Gilat Brazil, where she was responsible for business within Brazil and Latin America. During the last six years, she has focused on satellite business technology, dealing with large international accounts and developing partnerships with corporations, carriers, and oil and gas companies.
