Harris Corp., an international communications and information technology company, has named Julio Villafane Managing Director of the Caribbean/Latin America region for its RF Communications business.
In this role, Villafane will provide strategic direction and day-to-day management of all staff in the region, overseeing the regional headquarters in Miami as well as sales offices in Sao Paulo, Brazil; Santiago, Chile; and Mexico City. He reports to Andy Start, President, international business unit, Harris RF Communications.
"The addition of Julio to the Harris RF Communications team plays an integral role in the development of our Caribbean and Latin America business and supports our overall global expansion," Start said. "Julio brings extensive international experience in improving performance and driving increased revenue for global telecommunications technology and applied solutions providers."
Prior to joining Harris, Villafane served as director of sales and business development for Cisco Systems. During his career he also worked for 10 years at Motorola, where he held several positions including Vice President of strategic accounts.
Villafane earned his master's degree in business administration with national academic honors from Mercer University, and his bachelor's degree in industrial and systems engineering from Georgia Tech where he is an active member of the Board of Advisors for the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering.
