ALMA spots supernova dust factory

Striking new observations with the Atacama Large Millimeter/ submillimeter Array (ALMA) telescope capture, for the first time, the remains of a recent supernova brimming with freshly formed dust. If enough of this dust makes the perilous transition into interstellar space, it could explain how many galaxies acquired their dusty, dusky appearance.

GATR awarded $440M contract with U.S. Army

GATR Technologies announced that it has been awarded a 5 year indefinite delivery indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract by the U.S. Army Project Manager, Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (PM WIN-T), Product Manager Satellite Communications (PdM SATCOM), Commercial SATCOM Terminal Program (CSTP) Office. This contract ceiling value of $440,045,436 will enable the United States Army, the United States Marine Corps, and other Commands and Services to procure GATR’s WGS certified Inflatable Satellite Antennas (ISA) and associated hardware, services and support.

Dover to spin off DCT operating companies

Dover announced a plan to spin off certain DCT operating companies into a standalone publicly traded company named Knowles Corp.  This decision resulted in the split of several business units currently centralized under the Ceramic and Microwave Products (CMP) operating company.  While the capacitor companies Dielectric Laboratories (DLI), Novacap, Syfer, and Voltronics will be part of the spinoff, the microwave companies BSC Filters, Dow-Key, K&L, and Pole/Zero will remain with Dover, forming the Microwave Products Group (MPG).
