Herley Industries Inc. announced that it has received a $13.9 M subcontract from Lockheed Martin Space Systems Co. (LMSSC), Sunnyvale, CA, for the production of hardware components for the Test Missile Kit (TMK). The TMK is used in support of the Trident II D5 Missile flight-test Program.
Myron Levy, Herley's Chairman and CEO, commented, "We have been involved in development and production on the TMK for the Trident II D5 since 2003."
Levy continued, "This is a very important program for Herley and our Herley Lancaster division. Production options for the TMK hardware have brought the contract value to more than $20 M for the Trident TMK so far, and this award could bring the total to more than $33 M over the next two years. We are proud to participate in this important strategic missile program."
The kits are part of the process to convert operational Trident II D5 missiles into test configurations and contain range safety devices and flight telemetry instrumentation. Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company, Sunnyvale, CA, is the prime strategic Fleet Ballistic Missile contractor and missile system program manager for the US Navy's Strategic Systems Programs.
